Svaraveena
Originally in India, the name Veena referred broadly to string instruments, including harps, zithers, and lutes. The SvaraVeena, inspired in form and playing approach by the Finnish Kantele, belongs to a wide family of ancient folk string instruments that held an important place in ceremonies, rituals, recitations, and everyday musical life.
Across cultures, many early string instruments share a symbolic configuration of multiple strings—often arranged in numbers such as 3, 5, 7, 9, or more—each string tuned to a single fixed pitch without frets. The SvaraVeena revisits this principle, offering a contemporary interpretation that supports music education, sound practice, and personal exploration through simplicity, resonance, and harmonic clarity.
