Harmonic Winds

These modern flutes are based on the harmonic principle of overtones, a concept shared with some of the earliest flutes found among South African Bushmen and traditional signal horns.

Depending on the model—bamboo or copper—the instrument allows access to up to 12 overtones. With no fingering and a simple mouthpiece, sound can be produced immediately, even by beginners. Through diaphragmatic breath control, increased air pressure naturally reveals higher overtones, inviting spontaneous and richly improvised play.
