Kuzhal - Overtone Flute

The bamboo overtone flute, played frontally, produces a warm and breathy tone as harmonics gradually emerge through the airflow. Overtone flutes belong to some of the earliest wind instruments found in shepherd cultures and are based on the natural harmonic series.

Simple to approach, they support the development of diaphragmatic breathing. By gradually increasing air pressure, a wide range of overtones can be revealed, allowing the sound to unfold organically and intuitively.
